Impressions of Pop Art (1963)
This video represents Ray Stewart's impression of the 1963 exhibit "Six Painters and the Object" which was shown at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh. For more about the exhibit, see
www.guggenheim.org/publication/six-painters-and-the-object
It might help interpret this video to know that, like many of his generation, Ray Stewart despised pop art in general and Andy Warhol in particular. I don't know if this was ever shown on television, but it was often shown to his family.

I assume they dressed up just to record this video. Surely they didn't dress like that normally.

People had class and dressed professionally in the 50s and 60s They took pride in doing a professional job Even many truck drivers wore ties back then My dad was a towboat man in the late 40s and 50s

They actually did dress much like this. I have seen many photographs of towboat wheelman from the the 1940’s through to the 1970’s and it wasn’t until the early 70’s when dress relaxed to much less formal attire. I’m a captain myself and have worked with men wearing sweat pants or shorts and tee shirts today....even just the pajamas they slept in😂 It’s a much different world.

Although I never became a Sister as I had set out to be in my early twenties, I pray every day that at least one of my children will embrace this Vocation. God give us many labourers into thy harvest. Amen
